Dr. Opara is a double-board certified Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She is a highly awarded and sought-after international speaker, educator, facilitator and consultant, and sits on multiple advisory boards to provide counsel on just and equitable systems transformations. She is passionate about ensuring that the perspectives of the most marginalized are centered in all organizational policy, practice and processes. As a physician scholar and leader both in the medical and non-professional communities, she has a strong commitment to justice, equity, antiracism and decolonization in health professional education, practice, research and policy, and is purposed with transforming the systems of medicine and healthcare so that the most marginalized populations thrive. She is a grateful wife as well as a busy mother to three amazing young daughters.
