2021 MPCA Annual Conference: Driving Change for Health Center Success

Since the launch of the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) in 2012, accountable care organizations (ACOs) have been a major driver in the broad movement toward value-based care. But, because Medicare ACO opportunities focus on a smaller portion of the average health center’s patient population, ACO participation wasn’t the first priority for many health centers in the early days of value-based payment. Given the maturing of ACO programs that has occurred in the last nine years and the significant progress made toward implementing value-based payment for larger portions of the health center patient population (namely Medicaid), now is a great time to re-consider Medicare ACO participation as part of your health center’s overarching value-based payment strategy. In this session, we’ll focus on and discuss the details of an opportunity specifically designed for Michigan health centers to engage in a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO beginning in 2023.
