Breakout Session C1: Workforce Action Planning- Why It Matters for Your Organization and How to Tackle the Plan
In this session, you will learn what it means to develop a comprehensive workforce plan with a focus on the final step of the process – the action plan. A thriving and engaged workforce requires visionary leaders who invest in their staff and understand how to take the components of their workforce plan and put it into action. Although the process and implementation may seem costly, but turnover creates a much greater loss for health centers. A holistic view of workforce planning is an essential component of this process, and it must include strategies in retention, recruitment, health professions education and training (HP-ET), and strategic planning all within a justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI) lens. Breakout Session C3: Leveraging the Medicare ACO Opportunity to Advance Care for Older Adults
Since the launch of the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) in 2012, accountable care organizations (ACOs) have been a major driver in the broad movement toward value-based care. But, because Medicare ACO opportunities focus on a smaller portion of the average health center’s patient population, ACO participation wasn’t the first priority for many health centers in the early days of value-based payment. Given the maturing of ACO programs that has occurred in the last nine years and the significant progress made toward implementing value-based payment for larger portions of the health center patient population (namely Medicaid), now is a great time to re-consider Medicare ACO participation as part of your health center’s overarching value-based payment strategy. In this session, we’ll focus on and discuss the details of an opportunity specifically designed for Michigan health centers to engage in a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO beginning in 2023.
